Getting older has that weird knock-on effect of spending less family time together. Whilst my siblings and I have all gone off in search of our own adventures, we realised that we haven’t had a ‘family’ holiday in YEARS! Having ticked off our fair share of countries visited between us, we were after a week-long sunny escape for four that wasn’t going to break the bank. Particularly for the student traveller in our group. Enter, Greece.

Planning Our Greek Trip
With a general destination in mind, we headed to the internet to help us out. As none of us had ever visited Greece or the Greek islands before, we had no idea which islands we should be looking at, or even whether we would find what we were looking for. After watching numerous youtube videos and scouring package holiday and endless hotel/Skyscanner combos, we found a ridiculously cheap deal to Zakynthos that seemed right up our alley.
Pinspiration – Calling on Some Grecian Wanderlust
If I’m ever short on an idea for my travels, I head to Pinterest for some inspiration. Chock full of travel guides, dreamy images and more, this is the perfect place to research your chosen destination with the blogging world at your fingertips. We’re a family of readers and pretty-picture-lovers so with this being one of our special trips, I created a board completely dedicated to Greece travel with some incredible images we could drool over whilst waiting for our holiday to start. Getting Organised
Our next port of call was getting everything organised for our trip. Luckily the planning-lover in me already has a few go-to ways of getting organised for my travels. One of the more visual ways is the dreamy Trello app.

This kept all of the info needed such as booking confirmations, packing lists, car parking info and more in one place. This meant less stress down the line when people converged from all ends of the country.
The Countdown is On
With everything all booked up, we were all set to start the countdown to our trip to Greece. Luckily for us, an abundance of travel companies are creating their own apps these days solely for the purpose of leading the countdown and planning every inch of your holiday experience.
Some Added Extras
As we haven’t had a family outing abroad for a few years, we deiced to make this trip a bit of a special one. After a lovely experience in Birmingham’s No 01 Lounge, we opted for another lounge pass at our departure airport. With it being such an early flight, this will hopefully be just the ticket to get us in the holiday mood before we jet off to sunny Greece!
This time we’ll be driving into the airport so wanted a way we could book all of our extras together. For this, we chose Holiday Extras where you can book everything from airport transfers to airport parking all in one go. For our travel insurance, however, we headed to Compare the Market (you get the meerkat movies/meals with this one!).

Over to you!
