The powerhouse of the north, Manchester never fails to surprise me when it comes to one-of-a-kind spots to check out. Its dining scene is no exception to this rule, sure you could take a look at one of the many mouth-watering chain eateries but when it comes to the unusual, these Mancunian cafés are my favourite places to head to for something more than your usual cuppa.
My absolute favourite place to visit in Manchester, (definitely not a mad cat lady) is the fluff-filled Cat Café. Be sure to book ahead for your spot and you won’t be disappointed. You’ll have a specified time to spend in there with the beautiful fur-babies with all of your drinks, hot and cold, included. Don’t miss the fantastic hot chocolates with all of the trimmings you will find in there and trust me, once you get in among the walls clad with felines perches, you will be absolutely snap-happy. All rescue cats, these beautiful creatures love to say hello, you can even get a cat-themed memento on your way out from the mini shop in the reception!
Time is of the essence at this super-quirky Northern Quarter café where your time is clocked on your way in and way out with the only charge you receive being how long you have spent in there! Packed full of mismatched sofas and tables and a whole heap of board games to enjoy, this place has its fill of every hot or cold drink you could imagine in the help-yourself kitchen (you even get to chose your own cup and saucer or mug!) with a range of foody bits depending on the time of the day. Time your visit right and you could be joining in with one of the many events that take place there.
Ginger’s Comfort Emporium, Afflecks
Hidden within the eclectic floors of the one-of-a-kind Afflecks, Ginger’s Comfort Emporium is the perfect place to head for all of your refreshment needs after a day’s shopping. Grab a creamy milkshake or a hot coffee alongside tasty ice creams and hot desserts. You’re welcome.
Richmond Tea Rooms
An absolute haven of Alice in Wonderland madness, Richmond’s is the perfect setting for your dreamy afternoon tea with an abundant selection on offer and the perfect place to make a true outing out of it. With personal experience, you won’t be out of place if you dress up here but it’s also the perfect place for a memorable tea in enchanting surroundings.
