The city that never sleeps is jam-packed full of things to fill every day of the year. Whether you are stopping by as part of a road trip, spending the weekend in NYC or planning a longer trip, here are my top 5 things to do in New York City.
1. Head to the Rockefeller at Sunset
As the sun sets across the New York city skyline, head to the very best place to capture it all. Head up to the Top of the Rocks just before the sun starts to set to see the iconic city sights bathed in a beautiful orange glow. You’ll get to see the skyline as it is in the day and lit up as darkness falls, a sight in itself.

2. Catch the Staten Island ferry
For a free view of the iconic Statue of Liberty, a boat ride on the Staten Island ferry is a must. Sit onboard as you circle the statue allowing you to garb all of the water-side pictures of the statue you need, without shelling out on an expensive private boat ride to do the same thing. Take a walk around on the other side or stop for a quick snack before your return.

3. The Thanksgiving Parade
If you are visiting New York around Thanksgiving time, seeing the parade is a MUST. Stand alongside the crowds as a floats galore pass by, you might even catch a sight of Santa on his sleigh!

4. See a Show
No trip to the big apple would be complete without taking in one of the famous Broadway (or off-Broadway) performances on offer there. Whether is is the sights and sounds of some of the world’s biggest musicals, or a comedy show that is more your thing, be sure to drop by a show during your visit.

5. Experience Times Square
The hustle, the bustle, the bright lights and the sounds of the famous Times Square are all part of experiencing New York City at its core. So, if you fancy trying your hand and grabbing a list minute show ticket, or just want a picture with a dancing cowboy, Times Square New York is your place!
